Sea fishing - King Ragworm

King Rag is killer bait for most species of British fish, most shops tackle King Rag by the quarter. King Rag is a marine polychaete Ragworm family member. It is green or red and has a set of tongs called chitinous jaws that can open a can of beans! The worm of the average length is between 6 and 9 "long. Much more important to to 18" are not uncommon, and 24 samples can be found in north Wales and, occasionally, d 'elsewhere. On the sides of the worm on the motor body RAG feet look a mile in support of his swim abilty. They also be used to preserve fresh water supplies from salt water, and worm food through the water drawn in its hole.
King for nearly a tower estuarine environment with a source close to fresh water from diluted and mixed with salt water, as the estuary mouth and along the sea near major banks actors mentioned. Worms find areas of mud and sandy loam at the top and bottom of rocky terrain and sometimes in beds of mussels, too.
Collection King Ragworm is a messy and very hard work and that is why many fishermen to buy bait. But to dig your own bait is a fishing expedition to me and to go with a collection of your own can be very profitable.
I recommend an extra bucket or container for the collection and a large plate, with a good grip in the mud and wet mud weighs a ton.
Find a small round hole 1.5 cm in diameter in the mud of the flood region and suddenly flooded with water by itself or when the pressure near the hole with your foot. This is the worm sink deeper in the hole!
Start digging as deep as you can quickly and right on the hole, then slowly increase with each fork full circle around the hole until you find the worm. Check back through the poles UN GA you. Rag tend to live from mid-tide on the area below the water line of lowest tide. Because the areas that are heavily dug, it is logical to try to discover rare because the highest tides of the worm beds are less disturbed.
Weather plays a role in the tombs of the worm that the bitter cold to make deeper in their cave making it harder for you, the night can be a good time for the collection, if the worms are much more active in this time and closer to the surface.
Storage start digging the stadium. As you dig, to be used separately or discard any damaged first of all to be. Their blood is toxic and die intact worms.
The dry sand collected in the field and in a plastic container, such as Rag Tub of air and the holes in the lid is a good thing. For the longer-term storage, to your place in their bathroom with Vermiculite chips from a supplier of bait in a refrigerator about 40 degrees Fahrenheit to ensure they do not dry, spray on the collected water when they need it. They have about a week or something like that. You can also wrap the worms in several sheets of newspaper, then in the refrigerator, but the paper every day.
