A Fishing Bird

The bird was six inches long with both? Fronts tail length stretched back as an extension of the body. The body, head and wings are black and white at the top and bottom. A long narrow beak dark lying on an inch and a half down perpendicular to the body. The feet are apparently back up out of sight as it flew. The bird fluttered and slid into a series of SWOP 10 to 20 meters above the water along the shore of the lake. The only evidence of a neck that the head was turned away at first and then the other, so they always with a watchful eye on the water below. He was in search of food.
The bird that most of its research beyond the part adjacent to the muddy water with a mass of cattails on one side of the lake. At intervals the agile bird interrupted in mid-air beat difficult and somewhat familiar with the firm's position as a hummingbird. Then it closed its wings folded on the sides, with just enough to send, and fell with the acceleration of gravity, has extended its beak in the water. A second later, the bird rose from the water and resumed his flight. It is not that most waterfowl, operation and fly along the surface until sufficient speed is reached to take it? Disabled. This bird seems to like the water or if removed, and immediately began to be grateful for flight once more conventional in its environment. About once in three attempts of the pink bird with a small fish in its beak, the remuneration for his hard work.
We stayed and saw the bird fishing in this way for most of an hour. Far effort, research and diving seems to require a lot of energy. But the birds kept in their work methodically and slender slips back, continues to strengthen its food. Whether diving attack and food were empty, the birds rose in the same way each time and continued his work. There is no celebration of victory, do not sit cups after missing one constant business? In continuation of the work. And apparently it was enough, it is a good life, and kept the birds from the more decadent prosecution.
